Two reasons not a lot of people go are that it is a several hour, very turbulent ferry ride (nearly everyone on board was sea sick).  The ferry also costs around $180 per person, so not cheap.  Also, there is no fresh water on the island.  Nothing to drink, no showers, etc.  It is truly primitive camping and you must take in all your food/drinking water.
