I'm about to buy a bunch of new equipment and was thinking about going 'Ultra Light'. I don't know how well just pitching a tarp without bug netting will work here on the east coast, especially in the spring/early summer when all the bugs are out. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Another inspiring backpacker is Karl Bushby (&lt;a href="http://goliath.mail2web.com/" rel="nofollow"&gt;http://goliath.mail2web.com/&lt;/a&gt;). Karl has been hiking since 1998 in his attempt to hike around the world on foot. This past winter he WALKED ACROSS THE BERING STRAIGHT when it briefly froze over. What an amazing life!
